Some people go their whole lives wearing eyeglasses in Cape Cod. They get their first pair when they’re a youngster and through the years they keep up with their astigmatism, upgrading their spectacles as needed. Others, however, can’t wait to take off their frames in favor of contact lenses, and they get a prescription for contacts as soon as possible. Most of us, however, fall somewhere in between, using glasses and contact in tandem with one another as the situation calls for it.
The glasses vs. contacts debate is something many people find themselves facing in their formative years. Usually, it’s when we’re teenagers that we’re given the opportunity to choose between the two.
So which option is right for you? Or, more importantly, when is one option better than the other for correcting your vision? Here are some things to consider:
Eyeglasses are better…
Let’s start with eyeglasses. When are eyeglasses in Cape Cod a better choice than contact lenses?
Well, for starters, if you’re someone who is forgetful or who constantly finds themselves in disarray, glasses might be a better option than contacts. Glasses need very little upkeep—really, all you need is a case to put them in when you’re not using them and a microfiber cloth to wipe them down when they’re dirty. Contacts on the other hand require cleaning solution and a case, and if you’re going anywhere for an extended period of time, you’re going to have to bring backups.
Let’s also not forget that ultimately, glasses are going to be the cheaper option in the long run. If you’re someone who likes to cut expenses and keep costs low, investing in a quality pair of glasses or two will end up saving you a nice chunk of change.
Finally, if you work in messy conditions—such as with kids or in a professional environment—glasses can help you avoid eye issues. With contacts, you’re forced to touch your eyes to put them in and take them out, and particulates can even be trapped between the lens and your eye in severe instances. Glasses come on and off with no eye contact!
Contact lenses are advisable…
Now, while eyeglasses in Cape Cod are a great option for some, contact lenses are the preferred option for others.
Contact lenses offer some advantages over glasses that many people take to heart, such as the preservation of peripheral vision. Because contact lenses sit directly on your eyes, you’re able to see more clearly in the periphery.
Are you sporty or do you find yourself active a lot of the time? It can be comfortable to not have to worry about glasses when you’re sprinting down the track or taking a ball to the hoop! Many athletes and active individuals love the freedom that contact lenses provide them and even people who prefer glasses in most cases can agree that not having to worry about frames out on the field is a comfort.
Finally, contact lenses are going to be a superior choice for people who are self conscious. Glasses aren’t for everyone—especially if you’re someone who has a particular style or fashion sense. Being able to shed glasses in favor of non-detectable contacts can help improve self esteem and confidence if they’re an issue for you when glasses are involved.
Which is right for you?
Are you a glasses or contacts kind of person? Both? Not sure? If you’re weighing glasses vs. contacts, talk to your eye doctor about the pros and cons for both and ask their professional opinion of which might be best suited for you.
